Hampi Utsav rescheduled to February due to drought conditions

Due to the prevailing drought conditions in Karnataka, the State government has made the decision to reschedule the renowned Hampi Utsav to take place in February instead of its usual November timeframe.

This decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, alongside Housing, Minorities Development, and Vijayanagara district in-charge Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The meeting took note of the drought-stricken status of numerous taluks in various districts, including Vijayanagara and Ballari, which posed significant challenges for hosting the Utsav. Therefore, it was deemed more appropriate to reassess the situation in February for the Hampi Utsav.

Initially, Minister Khan had announced that the festival would proceed in November, but the new recommendation has emerged due to the ongoing drought circumstances.
