Belagavi Airport in Sambra received bomb threats, specifically targeting an Alliance Air flight from Bengaluru to Vidyanagar in Ballari district on Sunday. Authorities quickly responded after airport director S. Thiagarajan received an email detailing the threat.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rohan Jagadeesh confirmed that the email was a hoax. “The entire airport underwent a thorough inspection, and no explosives were discovered. We are currently investigating the email’s origin,” DCP Jagadeesh stated. According to a police officer, the email was traced back to an internet protocol address in Chennai.
Additionally, sources from Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL), which manages Kempegowda International Airport, noted that flight 9I 527 was included in a non-specific bomb threat posted on X (formerly Twitter), which mentioned threats to 29 aircraft nationwide. However, since the threat was non-specific, the aircraft was not isolated, and passengers and their luggage were not subjected to additional screening. The flight eventually departed for Vidyanagar and landed safely, as confirmed by officials.
