With water levels in the Tungabhadra Dam continuing to decline, authorities have decided to prioritize the remaining water exclusively for drinking purposes. The move comes amid concerns over inadequate inflows and the need to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply for lakhs of people dependent on the reservoir. The decision means that no further water will be released for irrigation until there is a significant improvement in storage levels.
Kalyani Steels Limited in Koppal's Ginigera Closed Over Environmental Norm Violations
The Central Pollution Control Board has directed the closure of Kalyani Steels Limited at Ginigera, Koppal, for allegedly violating environmental norms. Following the directive, Deputy Commissioner Suresh Itnal ordered the disconnection of the factory's electricity supply, bringing its operations to a halt. It is alleged that the factory had been functioning in violation of environmental regulations, making it difficult for local residents to sustain their livelihoods.

A skater from Bihar who has been crossing the country entirely on roller skates, without a vehicle of any kind, has reached Hospet after more than one hundred and forty five days on the road, taking in stops at Hampi's Virupaksha Temple and the Vittala Temple chariot along the way. The skater, known on social media as Keshu Skater, hails from Sitamarhi district in Bihar and has covered thousands of kilometres since setting out, travelling from the eastern state all the way down to Karnataka in the south.
