Eight resorts and hotels in the Hampi-Anegondi region were sealed and served notices on Tuesday for allegedly operating without high-specification packaged treatment units and discharging untreated wastewater into irrigation canals feeding the Tungabhadra River.

With water levels in the Tungabhadra Dam continuing to decline, authorities have decided to prioritize the remaining water exclusively for drinking purposes. The move comes amid concerns over inadequate inflows and the need to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply for lakhs of people dependent on the reservoir. The decision means that no further water will be released for irrigation until there is a significant improvement in storage levels.

A skater from Bihar who has been crossing the country entirely on roller skates, without a vehicle of any kind, has reached Hospet after more than one hundred and forty five days on the road, taking in stops at Hampi's Virupaksha Temple and the Vittala Temple chariot along the way. The skater, known on social media as Keshu Skater, hails from Sitamarhi district in Bihar and has covered thousands of kilometres since setting out, travelling from the eastern state all the way down to Karnataka in the south.

The Karnataka government has nominated Hampi, Mysuru, and Lakkundi under the Centre’s Global Destination Development Scheme, with one site set to receive funding for heritage conservation, tourism infrastructure, and visitor facilities.

Residents of mining affected villages in Hosapete taluk have an opportunity to receive government financial assistance for livestock farming. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has invited applications from eligible beneficiaries for subsidy under various animal husbandry schemes. Farmers and livestock rearers living in notified mining affected villages can apply and avail financial support to start or expand livestock related activities.
