MLA H.R. Gaviyappa said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has encouraged investments in a sugar factory, which has led me to consider starting one myself. He emphasized that a sugar factory in the Nagenahalli area would significantly benefit local farmers.
Mr. Gaviyappa highlighted the importance of sugar production in the region. He mentioned that he had discussions with local businesspeople and factory owners regarding potential investments in establishing a sugar factory, although their plans differed. After consulting with the Chief Minister, who advised him to invest in this initiative, Gaviyappa has also been engaging with community elders and expects to reach a final decision soon. He pointed out that a local factory would facilitate easier transportation of sugarcane for farmers, allowing them to use bullock carts instead of relying on tractors and trucks.
In addition, Gaviyappa announced plans to allocate housing for the poor, stating that homes would be distributed after construction, with a 20-year agreement preventing resale.
Heart Care Center in the Works
Gaviyappa also revealed efforts to establish a heart care center in Hospet, which would complement similar facilities in Bangalore. He noted that equipment has already been procured through CSR funds, and funding for doctors has been secured for five years. The center will operate with 20 beds within a 100-bed hospital, although permission from the health department has been delayed due to some lobbying issues. He assured that discussions with the Health Minister would expedite the center’s establishment.
The district hospital’s capacity has been increased from 250 to 300 beds, with licenses obtained for new primary health centers in Nagenahalli, Papinayakanahalli, and Kallahalli. Gaviyappa stressed the administration’s commitment to improving education and healthcare services in the area.
Congress Candidate Set for Victory in Sandur
He asserted that the Congress candidate would secure a victory in Sandur, regardless of which candidate Labor Minister Santosh Lad endorses. He acknowledged MP Tukaram’s strong presence and stated that there were no objections to tickets being given to his family members or party workers.
Gaviyappa mentioned that controlling the stray dog population in Hospet would be a priority and reiterated the focus on beautifying the city. Efforts to clean up Hospet, a popular tourist destination, are underway, with the recruitment of 123 civil servants for this initiative.
He also called for the establishment of an airport in the Hospet area, arguing that it would enhance tourism and allow for direct flights to Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi, ultimately creating direct and indirect employment opportunities in hotels and resorts.
