What’s there to fix at Ballari?
Apart from a few major roads in Ballari city, the remaining roads are in a dilapidated condition. This has resulted in Ballari being dusty and polluted. Encroachments on roads are increasing, especially in residential areas. There has been an increase in accidents due to heavy vehicle traffic in the city. The bus shelters built in an absurd manner and are not being utilized by the public. The water supply and pipeline system has not been upgraded. Due to old pipelines, the drinking water is getting mixed with sewage water, despite public protests, which is of no use.
There is no proper plan to address the water scarcity during the summer season. Many areas in the city face waterlogging issues during the rainy season, causing inconvenience to the residents, and there is no effective solution to their problems.
The jeans industry has provided livelihoods to thousands of workers, but the entrepreneurs are not addressing the numerous problems they face. There has been no focus on improving the drainage system and constructing an airport in the city. The gardens in the city are completely neglected, and in some cases, they are not even in use. The district has ample opportunities for tourism development, but so far, no one has taken the initiative.
