Hampi Gears Up to Host G-20 Summit in July

A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of District Collector T. Venkatesh, brought together officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Culture in the city on Friday. This significant gathering took place in light of the upcoming G-20 summit, scheduled to be held in the world-famous Hampi in July.

In a subsequent statement, District Collector T. Venkatesh expressed that efforts are underway to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the ancient kingdom while ensuring the provision of essential amenities for the delegates attending the G-20 summit.

The meeting was held with the team from the Ministry, focusing on the Sherpa meet and cultural program scheduled for July. Over 200 representatives are expected to attend. It has also been agreed upon to introduce the participating delegates to the renowned world heritage sites.

In relation to this, thorough inspections have been conducted at the Vijayavithala Temple, Purandara Mantapa, and the platform near Basavanna in Hampi. Two suitable locations have already been identified. Necessary arrangements will be made to ensure appropriate facilities for the accompanying delegates.

During the meeting, Ashish Sinha and Ramesh Babu, joint secretaries from the Ministry of External Affairs, provided instructions to the district administration regarding pre-preparation. Present at the event were Zilla Panchayat CEO Sadashiva Prabhu B., District Superintendent of Police Srihari Babu B.L., and officials from various departments.

The decision of the Central and State Governments to hold this meeting at Hampi reflects their high regard, presenting a splendid opportunity to showcase Hampi on the global stage, as expressed by Ram Prasat Manohar, Director of the Tourism Department.
