According to a study, the combined fresh cases load may go alarmingly high, says DC. Though the number of Covid cases has been coming down, the recent survey conducted by the district administration of the undivided Ballari district has made a shocking revelation.
The combined cases of Ballari and Vijayanagara districts could cross 1 Lakh if the third wave hits and a majority of them will be SARI and ILI cases. Last week, the number of Covid cases reduced to single-digit but started increasing after some days.
Deputy Commissioner Pavan Kumar Malapati said, “After one and half months, the number of Covid cases is gradually increasing. Now, the district administration has received data from a survey and the district experts committee suspected nearly 1 Lakh cases could be reported during the suspected third wave in both Ballari and Vijayanagara districts”.
The district administration conducted a house to house survey in order to take precautionary measures to contain the possible third wave and the district Covid-19 team submitted reports recently. The earlier survey report had predicted around 80,000 cases in the second wave, but the district reported nearly 60,000 cases.
“The district has already stocked 20,000 COVID-19 kits and 15,000 Remdesivir doses. We have put a mechanism in place to ensure an adequate supply of oxygen to all hospitals in the district. We are going to increase the ICU bed capacity at VIMS Hospital and Trauma Care Centre in Ballari city,” added the DC.
The district administration has planned to implement a weekend curfew and has already passed restriction orders on marriages and other events in the district. “The district administration allows only 100 people to participate in weddings by following Covid norms. At the same time, some fever clinics and border check posts will be set up in the district”, informed officials.
