The document verification process for beneficiaries of Karnataka’s Gruha Jyothi Scheme has begun in Hosapete. As part of the exercise, officials have started visiting households to verify the details of beneficiaries and ensure that the scheme’s benefits continue to reach only eligible families. During the door-to-door verification, residents may be asked to produce documents such as their Aadhaar card, recent electricity bill, and other supporting records related to the scheme.
The verification aims to confirm that the information provided during registration is accurate and up to date. The exercise is intended to identify cases where beneficiaries may have changed their residence, provided incorrect information, or no longer meet the eligibility criteria. Officials said the verification will help improve transparency and prevent misuse of the scheme while ensuring that deserving households continue receiving the benefits.
Beneficiaries are advised to keep the required documents ready and cooperate with the visiting officials. Residents should also verify the identity of the officials before handing over any personal documents or information.
The Gruha Jyothi Scheme provides eligible domestic consumers with up to 200 units of free electricity every month. Since its introduction, the scheme has benefited a large number of households across Karnataka, and the ongoing verification drive is aimed at maintaining the accuracy of beneficiary records.
Officials have appealed to residents of Hosapete to support the verification process so that it can be completed smoothly and without unnecessary delays.
