Heavy rains have caused devastation in Vijayanagara district, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to three others. Moreover, more than 80 houses collapsed in Kudligi, Pusulahadagali, and Kottoor taluks due to the relentless downpour.
Vijayanagara district has faced the wrath of heavy rains. The crops spread over 500 hectares in the district have been completely destroyed, and authorities have issued directives for the relocation of riverine residents from 22 villages in the affected area.
Torrential rains have wreaked havoc on the farming community in Bidar, leaving crops waterlogged and causing distress for farmers. In Basavakalyan taluk, a heart-wrenching scene unfolded as farmers seems sad witnessing their crops being flooded by the relentless rain. Soya, togari, uddu, and saffron crops, which were sown late due to delayed rains, now face the risk of damage. Farmers are urging authorities to conduct a thorough scientific survey and provide suitable solutions to address the situation.
Meanwhile, in Belgaum district, heavy rain has taken a toll on the safety of homes and families. In Bhutaramanahatti village, a house belonging to Lakshmi Hondai was tragically washed away due to the force of the rain. Thankfully, the family members sustained only minor injuries and managed to escape unharmed. The incident occurred at the Kakati police station area, leaving the family shaken but grateful for their safety.
