In a tragic incident, two youths from Bagalkote district were involved in a fatal accident while traveling from Bengaluru to Ilakal on a bike. The incident took place in the backwater area of the Tungabhadra Reservoir (TB Dam) near Gunda Botanical Garden on National Highway 50.
Jagadish (28) from Ilakal died on the spot, and Shashank Patil (26) was seriously injured and later succumbed to his injuries at VIMS in Bellary. The speeding bike collided with a divider, causing both riders to fall into the backwater area beyond the barrier.
Following the collision, the injured Shashank Patil was initially admitted to Hospet Government Hospital for treatment. The Mariammanahalli police visited the scene and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at Mariammanahalli police station.
