Reddy or Not: No entry into Ballari for GJR’s campaign

The Supreme Court’s restriction preventing his physical presence in Ballari hasn’t deterred Gangavati MLA Gali Janardhana Reddy from supporting his associates on social media platforms and engaging with Ballari residents.

Renowned for his ability to draw crowds, Reddy, who recently rejoined the BJP, is gearing up to conduct a digital campaign in his hometown of Ballari, endorsing his friend and BJP candidate B Sriramulu.

Although the BJP aims to leverage Reddy’s popularity, they must adhere to the Supreme Court’s ruling prohibiting his entry into Ballari district due to his involvement in the illegal mining case investigated by the CBI. Consequently, the party intends to harness Reddy’s influence through digital platforms to mobilize his followers’ support.

Previously, Reddy founded the regional party Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha and endorsed his wife Aruna Lakshmi as a candidate, utilizing promotional vehicles in Ballari city. Now, with his return to the BJP, Reddy’s campaign is transitioning to a digital format.

Expressing confidence in Reddy’s impact, B Sriramulu, the BJP candidate for Ballari, anticipates a boost in his electoral prospects. Despite the physical restriction imposed by the Supreme Court, Reddy remains determined to connect with Ballari residents and promote his allies online.

Last week, the official merger of KRPP with the BJP was announced by a senior party leader. In past elections, Reddy employed similar digital campaign tactics, using vehicles equipped with displays to broadcast his speeches in support of his wife Aruna. He plans to adopt a similar approach for the upcoming elections in 2024.
