PM Modi to campaign in Vijayanagara on May 2

Narendra Modi

The campaign trail for the upcoming elections in Karnataka is in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a two-day tour of the state concluded his campaign in eight districts on April 29 and 30. However, he is not done yet, as he is set to return to Karnataka on Tuesday for more campaigning in the Chitradurga and Vijayanagara districts. The Prime Minister’s presence is expected to rally support for his party’s candidates.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in an IAF helicopter at Chitradurga and address a massive rally at Jayadeva Murugharajendra stadium at 10:30 am. The party’s target is to mobilize more than one lakh people for the event.

The BJP aims to leverage Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity to influence voters in Chitradurga’s six seats and Davanagere’s four seats ahead of the Karnataka elections. The party won eight of these 10 seats in the 2018 Assembly elections.

After addressing a rally in Chitradurga, the Prime Minister will visit Vijayanagara, the state’s youngest district, for the first time since its formation. The BJP hopes that his presence will boost their prospects in the upcoming polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive at the Puneeth Rajkumar Stadium in Hosapete at 12:30 pm, where he will campaign for the BJP candidates in Vijayanagara and Koppal districts.

The party is eyeing a maximum number of seats in the Kalyana Karnataka region and plans to leverage its hike in reservation for SC/STs and distribution of title deeds to the Banjara community.

On April 29 and 30, the Prime Minister had addressed six rallies and two roadshows across eight districts in the state, and his upcoming visit to Vijayanagara is expected to bolster the party’s election prospects in the region.
