Officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) said on October 21 that 100 of the country’s cultural monuments, including Hampi, will be lit up in the national flag’s colours to commemorate the country’s 100 crore COVID-19 vaccination doses.
Seventeen UNESCO World Heritage Sites will be illuminated in tricolour, including Hampi, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, Tughlaqabad Fort, Purana Qila, Fatehpur Sikri Agra, Ramappa Temple, Dholavira (Gujarat), ancient Leh Palace; Currency Building and Metcalf Hall in Kolkata; Khajuraho temples (M.P.) and Golconda Fort.
Health experts, frontline workers, scientists, vaccine producers, and inhabitants of the country who heroically fought the pandemic will be honoured, they said.
