Hampi sees decrease in footfall; Covid 3rd wave instills fear among Tourists

The number of tourists visiting the World Heritage Site in Hampi has dropped drastically fearing the possible 3rd wave of Covid. There were 5 to 6 thousand tourists usually on weekends. It’s down to one thousand this Saturday.

The compulsion in producing the negative RT-PCR certificate for the tourists at Hampi, coming from Kerala and Maharashtra has become the major reason to see the reduced number of tourists this weekend.

Hampi usually sees an increased number of tourists during weekends, but this time it has reduced because of the Covid instilled fear.

The district in-charge minister B S Anand Singh has been assigned the Tourism Ministry for the 3rd time now and has made people believe that the Tourism Portfolio and Anand Singh have been inseparable.

In the newly formed cabinet of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the ministerial berths have been assigned to the ministers and due to the addition of a few more people, the berths have been shuffled. Likewise, Minister Anand Singh has been given Environment, Ecology and Tourism Ministry.
