A young man from Guttur in Yelaburga taluk of Koppal district has lost Rs 6. 10 lakh after falling victim to a cyber fraud scheme involving a fake BSNL tower installation advertisement on Instagram. Dhariyappa, the victim, contacted the mobile number provided in the ad, where fraudsters promised Rs 60 lakh as an advance payment and Rs 50,000 monthly rent for installing a tower.

A successful mock rescue operation was carried out at the Hospet railway yard in Vijayanagara district on Wednesday, demonstrating emergency protocols for a train derailment involving 18 trapped individuals. The drill simulated a scenario where a passenger train traveling from Hubballi to Tirupati derailed, causing one coach to fall onto another, with 18 people trapped inside.

A KKRTC bus overturned near Tambrahalli in Hagaribommanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district on Friday after its axle blade fractured, causing the vehicle to roll over. More than 30 passengers, including several students, were on board as the bus travelled from the town toward Tambrahalli. The driver and passengers suffered only minor injuries, and police confirmed that no one was killed.
