Residents of mining affected villages in Hosapete taluk have an opportunity to receive government financial assistance for livestock farming. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has invited applications from eligible beneficiaries for subsidy under various animal husbandry schemes. Farmers and livestock rearers living in notified mining affected villages can apply and avail financial support to start or expand livestock related activities.

A skater from Bihar who has been crossing the country entirely on roller skates, without a vehicle of any kind, has reached Hospet after more than one hundred and forty five days on the road, taking in stops at Hampi's Virupaksha Temple and the Vittala Temple chariot along the way. The skater, known on social media as Keshu Skater, hails from Sitamarhi district in Bihar and has covered thousands of kilometres since setting out, travelling from the eastern state all the way down to Karnataka in the south.

At the inauguration of the new 33 spillway gates of the Tungabhadra Dam in Munirabad, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, C R Patil, stated that if the silt is removed from the reservoirs, the capacity will increase by 30% and the income of farmers will double.
