A separate complaint desk for women in all the police stations is planned by the Ballari district police. Women are maybe fearful about filing police complaints in many cases, and this move by the district police is welcomed.
The police will direct the staff on communication and interactions. Female police constables will head these desks. A dedicated desk for women has also been set up at 39 police stations throughout the district.
“Fear and hesitation stop many women from visiting police stations. They think that it is difficult to explain everything to male police personnel who can be a little rough at times. To overcome such issues and create a women-friendly environment, we are planning a separate desk,”
Ballari Superintendent of Police Saidulu Adavath said.
