Three people were killed in a car collision with a truck at Bellary district on Saturday night. It is suspected that the accident may have occurred due to the rainwater on the road of National Highway 50, near Kanahasalli.
The deceased were Devaraj (21), Bhimaraya (38) and Anjali Devi (14) of Surapur in Yadagiri district. DYSP Shivakumar and PSI Nagaraj visited the place and to inspect. A case has been registered at the Kanahosalli police station.
About two feet of rainwater was stagnant on the highway. This has led to an increase in accidents. Also, traffic on the highway is so common that locals have urged concerned authorities to look into it.
It goes without saying that it is imperative to adhere to speed limits in standard driving conditions, more so in the rainy season. As a matter of fact, it is advisable to drive much slower than you typically do. This is because wet roads translate into reduced traction and make it harder to control vehicles, especially at high speeds.
