Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday alleged that the autopsy of Congress worker Rajasekhar, who died after being shot during the recent Ballari violence, was unlawfully carried out twice.
Calling for the case to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kumaraswamy told reporters that the Congress-led state government had gone to extreme lengths to cover up the killing of its own party worker, describing the act as disgraceful.
“What were the conclusions of the first postmortem? What does the second report state? The government must respond to these questions. According to the information I have, Rajasekhar’s body underwent two postmortem examinations,” he said.
He further questioned the need for a second autopsy, asking, “Why was another postmortem done? Who applied pressure for it? Who authorised the second examination? Was it ordered because the findings of the first report did not align with your narrative?”
Kumaraswamy claimed there was information suggesting that small pellets were detected in the body during the first postmortem. “By conducting a second autopsy, a conspiracy was created to project that MLA Janardhana Reddy himself fired the gun,” he alleged.
