Based on a tip-off, police arrested a 45-year-old man on Sunday night for allegedly selling ganja and seized 130 grams of the substance.
The arrest took place near a park in Hospet, where the suspect was reportedly dealing ganja in a public area. An accomplice is currently absconding.
Authorities confiscated 130 grams of ganja, ₹1.56 lakh in cash, and a mobile phone from the accused. He has been remanded to judicial custody. A case has been registered at the Chittawadgi police station.
Possession and sale of ganja (cannabis) are punishable offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which prohibits the production, sale, purchase, transport, and consumption of such substances. Selling it in a public place not only violates the law but also poses a serious threat to public safety, especially near recreational areas like parks.
