A 58-year-old woman, Bhuvaneshwari was murdered at her home at Ranipet, Hospet city on Friday evening. Her sister Sivabhushana (56) sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the city government hospital. The sister use to run a clothing store at Ranipet.
According to locals, two men broke into the house on Friday, locked the doors and windows, tied the owner’s hands and feet, stole ₹ 3 lakh cash, a hundred grams of jewellery and ran out the back door. Bhuvneshwari died in the incident and her sister Shivabhushana has been treated and recovered.
Three teams, headed by DySP Vishwanath Rao Kulkarni, will be investigating CPI Srinivas Manne of Town Station, CPI Srinivas Meti of Rural Station and Jayaprakash of Chittawadgi Station.
People are worried about the murder as it happened in a residential area which is in the heart of the city.
The locals believe that the men had visited the house earlier as well to make sure there were only two women at the Ranipet residence.
