District Collector M.S. Diwakar has ordered a temporary ban on liquor sales in view of the 2025 Srigauri Ganesh and Eid Milad celebrations. The directive covers Hospet, Kudligi, and Harapanahalli subdivisions, restricting liquor sale in bars, restaurants, shops, and transport of liquor across the district to ensure peace and law and order.
As part of security measures, curfew has been declared in Harapanahalli subdivision on multiple festival days: August 27 (6 am – August 28, 6 pm), August 29 (6 pm – August 30, 6 pm), August 31 (6 pm – September 1, 1 pm), September 2 (6 pm – September 6, 3 pm), September 4 (6 pm – September 6, 5 pm), September 6 (6 pm – 7 pm in Harapanahalli town; 8 pm – 9 pm in Hadagali town). Additional restrictions apply in Hagaribommanahalli and Mariyammanahalli police station limits from September 1 (6 pm) to September 3 (6 pm), in the same areas again from September 3 (6 pm) to September 5 (6 pm), and across Hagaribommanahalli taluk from September 5 (6 pm) to September 7 (6 am).
In Hospet subdivision, liquor sales are prohibited on August 29 (6 am – August 30, 6 am), August 31 (6 am – September 1, 6 am), and within Hospet city on September 6 (6 am – September 7, 6 am). Additionally, sales across the Hospet subdivision will remain suspended from September 5 (6 am) to September 6 (6 pm) in view of Eid Milad.
The Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Excise have been instructed to enforce the order strictly.
