Two siblings who had just returned from Dubai tested positive for the coronavirus strain found in South Africa. This is the second such case in Karnataka, following the discovery of a similar strain in a Shivamogga patient. The siblings are currently in Ballari and are in stable condition, according to a health official.
The district administration has reported that the strain is identical to the South African form of Covid-19, and a government agency in Bengaluru has confirmed this. The patients, a brother and sister, who arrived in Ballari on February 17 took their examination three days later because they were sick.
According to the health department’s physicians, there isn’t much of a difference between Covid-19 variants from the UK and South Africa. However, patients infected with the South African strain of the Covid19 virus appear to have less than those infected with the normal Covid19 virus.
“The siblings had been checked before travelling in Dubai airport, but the findings were negative. They came for a test three days after they arrived in India after experiencing a high fever. Experts in Bengaluru examined the samples, and the administration was told that the variant was from South Africa “Added the official.
The number of Covid-19 cases in the district has been rising for the past week, according to officials. Various organisations and industries have offered examples. To help handle the pandemic, the administration has agreed to increase Covid19 testing.
Both patients were safe and doing well, said Ballari Deputy Commissioner Pavan Kumar Malapati.
“This is yet another COVID-19 strain. Many of the guidelines for dealing with the pandemic are strictly adhered to. Both patients are in good shape and are doing well. They were isolated as soon as they were reported to be infected with the new strain. We’ll submit their throat swab samples to be tested again to confirm the disease’s absence,” he said.
