Real estate tycoon Irfan Razack, chairman and managing director of Prestige Group, will be honoured with an honorary doctorate at Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University’s (VSKU) 13th annual convocation in Ballari on Sept 4. He is being recognised for his entrepreneurial achievements and contributions to social service.
Along with Razack, physician and author Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi and Sandur industrialist Bavihalli Naganagouda, noted for his work in education, social service, and cultural initiatives through BKG Foundation, will also receive honorary doctorates.
The event, set for 11 am at the university’s open-air theatre in Ballari, will be chaired by Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot. Prof Avinash Chandra Pandey, director of the Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi, will deliver the convocation address. Higher education minister Dr MC Sudhakar will also attend.
This year, 42 students will take home 51 gold medals, with commerce student Hamsa N bagging four, the highest. Additionally, 57 students will be conferred doctoral degrees, 155 will receive rank certificates, and over 21,000 graduates will be awarded their degrees.
Registrar C Nagaraju, Registrar (evaluation) Prof NM Sali, deans, department chairpersons, and college principals will also be present.
