The Commissioner of the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority (HAWAMA) has cautioned that stringent action will be taken against any construction or development activities undertaken without prior approval within the Hampi World Heritage Area.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hampi is protected under specific regulations implemented by the Authority to safeguard its historical and cultural value. Written permission is compulsory before initiating any construction, reconstruction, expansion, or development work within the authority’s jurisdiction. Activities carried out without such approval will be deemed unauthorized and demolished without prior notice, the Commissioner warned.
The release further noted that legal proceedings will be initiated against violators under the Climate Act 2002 and other applicable laws.
