Shantappa Kurubara, a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) hailing from Ballari appeared for the Civil Service (Mains) Examination-2023 in Kannada, participated in the interview in the same language, and secured an All India Rank of 644 in the CSE -2023. Despite facing setbacks, including failing II PU twice, Mr. Shantappa has persevered to achieve this significant milestone.
A B.Sc graduate, Mr. Shantappa attained this rank in his eighth attempt. However, feeling unsatisfied with his current rank, he has resolved to undertake the civil service exam again next year. “Although I have cleared the CSE exam on my eighth attempt, I am not content with my rank. I aspire to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer,” he expressed.
Originally from Ballari district, Mr. Shantappa encountered early hardships due to the loss of his father. Recounting his journey, he shared, “My uncle worked as a migrant daily wage laborer in Bengaluru, and I assisted him during school breaks. Despite facing setbacks and failing II PU twice, I eventually completed my graduation and pursued a career as a sub-inspector.”
During his tenure as a sub-inspector, Mr. Shantappa actively engaged in various community service initiatives. While stationed at Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station, he dedicated his time to teaching children in a local slum and providing essential supplies to families amidst the pandemic. Additionally, he initiated a social media campaign and facilitated the installation of a mobile toilet at Goraguntepalya junction. Furthermore, Mr. Shantappa contributes as a visiting faculty at coaching centers, imparting knowledge to aspiring candidates for competitive examinations.
