Following India’s retaliatory strike on terrorist bases in Pakistan, heightened security has been enforced at renowned tourist destinations like Hampi, Tungabhadra Reservoir, and other popular spots. The Vijayanagara Police Department has intensified inspections across the region.
With the ongoing summer holidays and rising temperatures, tourist footfall has surged at major attractions. Thousands are flocking to the Vijayanagara district. As a result, authorities are displaying tourist advisories at key sites including Hampi, Tungabhadra Reservoir, Daroji, and Gudekote Bear Sanctuary. Surveillance through CC cameras has been made mandatory, and tourist data is being recorded diligently.
Recognized globally, Hampi is a top travel destination. Daroji is home to Asia’s largest bear sanctuary. The region also houses a power station on the Vijayanagara-Bellary border. These four zones—Hampi, Daroji, Gudekote, and the Tungabhadra Reservoir—have previously seen strict security measures. With tensions rising due to the India-Pakistan conflict, the police have launched intensified district-wide security monitoring to thwart potential retaliatory threats. Since the Pahlyam incident, the Chita Kavalu force has been consistently patrolling tourist areas, collecting visitor details and verifying documents.
Police Presence in Mapti
Given the heavy influx of tourists, the district police have acted on alerts from central and state intelligence agencies. Officers are actively patrolling Mapti, keeping watch for suspicious activity. Security checks have been conducted in hotels, resorts, and home stays to ensure the safety of both domestic and international tourists.
Monument Surveillance
Security has also been boosted at key monuments near Hampi and the Tungabhadra Reservoir. Police are maintaining a strong presence around landmarks like the Hampi Srivirupakseshwar Temple, Sasive Kalu Ganapati Mantapa, Vijaya Vithala Temple, Kote Anjaneya, and Kaddirampura Cross.
