MP E. Tukaram has announced a ₹50 lakh grant for constructing a building for photographers in Sandur. The announcement was made during the 185th World Photography Day program held on Saturday at Adarsh Kalyana Mantapa, Kudligi Road, Sandur town.
Speaking on behalf of the Sanduru Photographers and Videographers Association, MP Tukaram inaugurated the event and highlighted the grant. He also mentioned a ₹9 crore development project for Narihalla Reservoir, which he said would benefit photographers as well. Karnataka Photographers Association State Committee President H.S. Nagesh expressed appreciation for the state’s inclusion of photographers in the unorganized workers’ group.
The program featured motivational talks by Ramesh Bellad of Devadurga and Basavaraj Umrani of Athaniya, along with speeches from Kannada Sahitya Parishad Taluk Unit President B. Naganagowda, S.M. Vinaykumar, and Prabhuswamiji of Viraktamatha, Sandur. Senior photographers and high-achieving Essex students in Kannada and English were honored.
