Miscreants set fire to the “model house” of MLA G. Janardhana Reddy located in Rukmanamma Chengareddy Layout on the outskirts of Ballari city on Friday.
Reddy had built the 9,400 sq ft house at an estimated cost of about ₹4 crore in G-Square Layout. The house was unoccupied and was being displayed as a model unit for prospective site buyers in the layout.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information. By then, windows and some wooden pillars of the house had already been damaged by the flames.
G. Somashekar Reddy, brother of the Gangavathi MLA, accused Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy of being behind the arson.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ravikumar and other police officials visited the scene. Sources said that five people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
