Siraguppa Taluk Hospital’s Medical Officer, Eranna, has been suspended after reports revealed that he was coming to work intoxicated and engaging in inappropriate behavior. Following an investigation prompted by a report on TV9, the Ballari Health and Family Welfare Department found him guilty of dereliction of duty and misconduct, leading to his immediate suspension.
Dr. Eranna, who was allegedly arriving at the hospital drunk, had been displaying rude behavior toward staff and patients. In response to the media report, the district health authorities were instructed to investigate the matter. After their inquiry, the report confirmed the accusations, prompting the department to suspend Dr. Eranna.
Deaths of Midwives in Ballari District Hospital Spark Outrage
In a separate incident, the deaths of five midwives at Ballari District Hospital have raised serious concerns. The investigation revealed that IV fluids were the cause of their deaths. Opposition parties have strongly criticized the government, holding them responsible for the tragic incident. In response, the government has announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the families of the deceased midwives. This issue is expected to be discussed further in the upcoming session.
