In a heartwarming display of integrity, Nanjundi, a dedicated auto-rickshaw driver from our town, recently exemplified honesty when he discovered a lost bag on Mahatma Gandhi Road early Tuesday morning. Upon closer inspection, the bag revealed a treasure trove comprising ₹28,000 in cash, a precious mobile phone, and a bank passbook. A quick glance at the bank passbook confirmed that the bag belonged to Nagamma, a resident of Imadapur village in our taluk.
Without hesitation, Nanjundi promptly answered a call received on the mobile phone found in the bag, assuring the caller that he had safeguarded both the money and the phone, and would return them to Nagamma as soon as she could collect them. In an admirable act of sincerity, Nanjundi fulfilled his promise and handed over the lost money and mobile phone to a grateful Nagamma, who hailed from his very own village.
Overwhelmed with gratitude for the return of her valuable possessions, Nagamma expressed her heartfelt thanks to Nanjundi for his unwavering honesty. The Auto Drivers Association President, Manju Mayur, along with several others, joined in the occasion to applaud Nanjundi’s exemplary act of integrity.
Similarly, in a previous incident, another individual named Girish demonstrated his commitment to honesty by promptly returning a bag containing ₹40,000 to its rightful owner, a woman who had inadvertently left it behind in his auto-rickshaw.
