Indira Canteen will benefit not just students, daily wage workers, and laborers, but also tourists visiting Hampi, said MLA H.R. Gaviappa, urging people to make use of the facility.

He was speaking to the media after inaugurating the newly constructed Indira Canteen building in Ward No. 2, Kamalpur, on Saturday. He stated that the canteen was launched with the aim of serving the underprivileged. “While many plans are introduced, proper execution is crucial. Contractors must ensure quality food. Any complaints will be dealt with seriously,” he cautioned.

Indira Canteen is a relief for the poor, offering food at highly subsidized rates amidst rising living costs. Tiffin is priced at ₹5 and meals at ₹10. The canteen serves 300 tiffins in the morning, 300 meals in the afternoon, and 300 in the evening. The MLA reiterated that the canteen is a crucial support system for the poor and appreciated the continuation of this welfare initiative.
