Hospet RPF constable saves elderly passenger falling from a train at Hospet railway station.

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saved the life of a middle-aged passenger as he slipped while boarding a moving train at Hospet railway station.

A video went viral last week showing a heroic Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saving the life of an elderly passenger from falling in the gap between a moving train and the platform went viral. The constable was identified as Harisha C. The incident happened at Hospet railway station at around 2:05 pm last week.

A 55-year old passenger named Gaurav had boarded the moving train 56910 Hospet- KSR Bengaluru from Platform 1 of Hospet station. However, Gaurav suddenly lost his balance and tripped from the door while boarding the running train. As Gaurav started falling under the wheels, Harisha, an alert constable who was standing on the platform near the coach, quickly responded by pulling the middle-aged passenger out of the gap between the platform and the train and saved his life.

A South Western Railway (SWR) official said that Harisha was appreciated by everyone for his prompt action. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Reportedly, SWR general manager, Ajay Kumar Singh, would award the constable for his bravery, according to a report in The Times of India.

In another incident reported from Ahmedabad earlier this month, a head constable saved a woman’s life at Dahod railway station in Gujarat. The woman, identified as Leela Bai, had slipped while getting down from the Awantika Express. As the train continued to move towards its next destination, three men including constable Bhura Bhai, rescued her and managed to pull her out of the gap between the moving train and the platform.
