Two of the ten undertrials linked to the Harsha murder case are reportedly causing repeated disturbances at Ballari Central Jail. Identified as Jeelan and Syed Nihal, the pair is demanding privileged treatment and interfering with routine jail operations.
Earlier housed in Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, and Dharwad prisons, the duo was transferred to Ballari about a month ago due to continued misconduct. However, their disruptive behaviour appears unchanged, according to jail insiders.
The two have allegedly obtained old video clips of prior jail events and are using them to intimidate jail authorities, threatening to circulate the footage on social media. Their demands reportedly include exclusive cells, exemption from security checks, and unrestricted access to the jailer’s office.
Besides issuing threats, Jeelan and Nihal are frequently involved in arguments with prison staff over trivial matters and are accused of hurling verbal abuse. Their history of indiscipline is said to be the reason for their frequent transfers between jails.
Officials are reportedly taking the situation seriously, as their behaviour continues to challenge prison discipline in the high-security facility.
