Hampi set for tourism upgrade with swadesh darshan 2.0 initiatives

The Ministry of Tourism has granted approval for the establishment of “Traveler Nooks” at Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 umbrella, the project aims to address crucial gaps in tourist amenities, offering services such as drinking water, clean washrooms, ATMs, retail stores, and shaded seating areas.

This initiative, part of Swadesh Darshan 2.0, marks the second project of its kind in the State, following the successful implementation in Mysuru. Utilizing repurposed shipping containers, the project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also launched numerous other tourism-related projects on Thursday.

The innovative concept involves three variants: Noble, Royal, and Imperial, strategically placed along different trails. Authorities emphasize that this approach ensures sustainable growth in tourism infrastructure while preserving the archaeological significance of Hampi.

Bringing a unique touch to visitor infrastructure, the Traveler Nook is set to redefine the tourist experience. The plan outlines the establishment of 20 such Travelers’ Nooks at a total cost of ₹2.63 crore. Among them, eight will be Noble Nooks, four will be Royal Nooks, and the remaining eight will be Imperial Nooks.
