In an impactful ceremony held at the Ballari municipal ground, District in-charge minister Nagendra and Ballari city MLA Bharath Reddy illuminated the occasion by inaugurating the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, an emblem of women’s empowerment, under the aegis of the Karnataka government. The event was graced by the presence of numerous enthusiastic women who have registered for this visionary initiative, amounting to over 2.59 lakh participants in the district alone.
The significance of this scheme resonated deeply as it was set in motion with the symbolic lighting of a lamp, signifying the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of hope and progress. The inauguration, marked by its simplicity and resonance, mirrored the essence of the Gruha Lakshmi initiative itself, which stands as a beacon of support for the women heading households across the state.
The Gruha Lakshmi scheme’s inception is a direct result of the commitment made by the Congress, outlined as one of their five prominent electoral promises. This noble endeavor pledges a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 to each woman who serves as the nucleus of her household. As the program takes its initial steps, it not only uplifts the lives of the women it aims to support but also reaffirms the government’s dedication to fostering women’s well-being and empowerment across Ballari and the entirety of Karnataka.
