Bellary district’s CITU JM Chennabasayaswamy urged the press on Friday to file a case and apprehend Jindal factory president PK Murugan and HR vice president Sanjay Handura in connection with the deaths of three young engineers who were repairing hot water pipelines at the Jindal factory. Chennabasayaswamy emphasized this demand in a statement.
The deceased individuals, Jadeppa (31) from Hospet taluk, Mahadevan (22) from Chennai, and Sushant (23) from Bangalore, lost their lives due to alleged negligence on the part of the Jindal management while repairing the water pipeline tunnel in the new unit of HSM at Jindal.
Chennabasayaswamy accused Jindal of a pattern of industrial accidents, asserting that officials from the industrial safety and environment department were under the sway of the company.
He claimed, “Industrial accidents are often swept under the rug, with post-mortem examinations and compensation procedures dictated by the companies themselves. A thorough judicial inquiry into past accidents at Jindal is warranted.” He also called for adequate compensation and employment opportunities for the families of the deceased.
