Bellary is being developed into the country’s second-largest market hub, said MP E. Tukaram. Approval has been granted for the Hospet–Bellary additional goods line, while the airport project worth ₹300 crore will begin soon. An incubation center to support entrepreneurs is also on the cards, officials informed.
“To make Bellary the second biggest marketing hub after Mumbai, every possible effort is underway,” MP Tukaram said while inaugurating the renovated building and lift of the District Commerce and Industry Institute on Thursday.
Highlighting the district’s potential, he noted that Sandur taluk is rich in iron ore and manganese, while Kampli, Kurugod, and Siruguppa taluks benefit from the Tungabhadra river. “To utilize these resources effectively, steps are being taken to position Bellary as a leading market center,” he stated.
The MP added that the additional goods route between Hospet and Bellary has received clearance, and several railway bridges will come up as part of the project. Work on the Venivirapur–Hagari and Hagari–Siruguppa roads will also commence shortly, he said.
Rajya Sabha member Dr. Syed Nasir Hussain assured, “I remain committed to the overall development of Bellary and am allocating 75% of my MP funds for this purpose.”
City MLA Nara Bharatha Reddy announced that construction of the Bellary airport, costing ₹300 crore with contributions from DMF, KKRDB, and the state government, will begin soon.
District Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Yashwantraj Nagireddy said an incubation center will be launched to mentor budding entrepreneurs.
The event was attended by Mayor Mullangi Nandish, Lidkar President Mundragi Nagaraj, BDCCI Senior Vice President Manjunath, Immediate Past President B. Maharudra Gowda, Former President C. Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer P. Palanna, Honorary Secretary K.C. Suresh Babu, and others.
