District police conducted extensive raids on gambling dens across the district during the Diwali festival, registering 178 cases.
District Superintendent of Police Dr. Shobharani V.J informed that a total of 1,136 individuals were booked in the three-day operation held from October 20 to 22, with fines amounting to ₹17,31,140 imposed.
Gambling, particularly Ispeet, was found to be prevalent in hotels, lodges, offices, fields, gardens, and farmhouses. The raids were carried out following credible inputs and public complaints.
Last year, 833 people were booked in 137 cases with ₹16,44,665 seized, while in 2023, 660 people were arrested in 101 cases and ₹10,83,800 recovered.
