Ballari reported 16 active cases in the midst of Karnataka’s 1240 active covid-19 infections

Karnataka witnessed a surge in new COVID-19 cases with 1240 active cases. Ballari reported 16 active cases among the fresh infections. The state also registered four virus-related deaths, a rise from the one death reported on Wednesday. 

Bengaluru played a significant role in the spike, contributing 172 infections to the total of 704 active cases in the city. The health department’s daily bulletin highlighted that Karnataka’s active caseload stood at 1,240, with 229 recoveries. The state’s overall COVID-19 tally reached 40.92 lakhs.

Across districts, Hassan reported 19 cases, Mysuru 18, and Dakshina Kannada 11. Ballari, along with Koppala, recorded sixteen fresh infections. Chamarajanagara reported eight cases. Tumakuru, Vijayanagara, and Chikkamagaluru each saw five new cases. The number of districts with no new cases decreased from nine to four.

Of the four reported deaths, two were from Bengaluru Urban district, while Mysuru and Dharwad each reported one death.

The state conducted 7,791 tests, including 6,900 RT-PCR tests and 891 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs). The case fatality rate in Karnataka rose to 1.34%.

In terms of active cases in the state, 1,168 individuals were isolated at home, while hospitalizations increased to 72. Among the hospitalized, 60 patients were in general wards, some receiving oxygen support, and 12 were in the ICU, with three on ventilators.

Of broader national significance, the country recorded 760 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
