Hosapete City Council President N. Ramesh Kumar announced that a grant of ₹23.55 crore has been approved for the 16th Finance Commission for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Speaking during a special council meeting convened to discuss the matter, Kumar stated that a suitable action plan will be formulated and submitted to the District Collector for approval. Assistant Executive Engineer Mohammed Mansoor Ali informed the assembly that the Urban Development Department has issued specific directives on how the funds should be allocated and which projects they should support.
Council member Vaddar Hulugappa urged that the funds be distributed without bias, and the members unanimously agreed to utilize the grant for appropriate development projects. In a subsequent interaction with the media, President Ramesh Kumar emphasized that the funds must not be used indiscriminately. He detailed that ₹11.75 crore is earmarked for drinking water and sanitation, while another ₹11.75 crore is reserved for waste management. Kumar clarified that instead of dividing the amount equally among all wards, the funds will be directed to locations where construction work is specifically required.
The President also raised concerns regarding a previous special grant of ₹10 crore, alleging that the Member of Legislative Assembly had only executed works worth approximately ₹3 crore, with the remaining balance still held by the MLA. Deputy President Jeevaratnam and Standing Committee President Sharavan were present at the meeting.
