Ballari police to implement advanced tech for traffic violation detection

Ballari Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Bandaru announced that the district police will deploy advanced technology to detect traffic violations and reduce accidents. Addressing media representatives on Tuesday, Mr. Bandaru highlighted that 300 road accidents have occurred this year, resulting in 118 deaths and 436 critical injuries. To address this, the police will use speed laser guns and breath alcohol analyzers, provided by the Commissionerate for Traffic and Road Safety (CTRS), with officers already trained to operate these tools.

The speed laser gun, a digital device, records violations automatically, capturing details like date, location, and vehicle registration number. It detects offenses such as dangerous driving, speeding, mobile phone use while driving, riding without a helmet, and signal jumping. This mobility-enabled device ensures that violators cannot dispute recorded evidence.

Similarly, the breath alcohol analyzer is essential for curbing drunk driving. It logs necessary details, including a photo of the driver under the influence, enabling the police to file cases with solid evidence.

Mr. Bandaru also urged the public to dial 112 for police assistance in emergencies, such as attacks, robberies, or accidents. A police team will respond within 15 minutes, providing 24/7 service without requiring a visit to the station.

During the press conference, Traffic Police Inspector Ayyanagouda demonstrated the new devices. Additional Superintendent of Police Naveen Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (District Armed Reserve) B. Tippeswamy, and other senior officers were also present.
