Property owners holding B-Khata in Hosapete have submitted a petition to the district administration, demanding conversion of their properties to A-Khata status and relief from repeated documentation requirements during Form-3 renewals. The group approached the Deputy Commissioner, highlighting the ongoing difficulties faced by B-Khata holders. While B-Khata provides basic recognition of property, it does not grant full legal status, which continues to create obstacles in getting construction approvals, availing bank loans, and carrying out property transactions.
Residents stated that many property owners have invested significant amounts into their properties but still face uncertainty due to the lack of complete legal recognition. They emphasized that A-Khata status is essential for ensuring smooth ownership rights and avoiding future legal complications. The Vijayanagara district administration has been receiving demands from B-Khata property owners in Hosapete to provide them with A-Khata, and has now initiated a drive to encourage them to regularize their properties through legal means.
Along with the demand for conversion, property owners also raised concerns about the repeated submission of documents during Form-3 renewals. They pointed out that authorities are asking for the same documents multiple times, even though they have already been submitted earlier, leading to unnecessary delays and inconvenience. The administration has assured that it will provide all necessary support and guidance to property owners who want to obtain A-Khata, and has also warned against any attempts to obtain it through illegal means.
The issue of B-Khata properties extends beyond Hosapete, with several such cases reported across Karnataka, often arising from irregular layouts or incomplete approvals. In many instances, property owners are left dealing with limitations that affect both legal security and financial access. The drive is expected to benefit thousands of property owners in Hosapete, who have been struggling to get their properties regularized due to various reasons. The move is seen as a positive step towards streamlining property ownership in the district and preventing illegal activities.
The residents are now awaiting a response from the district administration and have urged authorities to take immediate steps to simplify procedures and address their long-pending demand for A-Khata conversion. The District Collector has been working closely with the local authorities to ensure the success of the drive, and the Chief Minister has expressed support for the initiative, highlighting its importance in promoting transparency and accountability in the state.
