Action will be taken against individuals accountable for the crest gate incident at the Tungabhadra reservoir

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has pledged that action will be taken against those responsible for the malfunction of the crest gate at the Tungabhadra reservoir in Hosapete, Vijayanagara district. The issue, which Kharge attributed to technical reasons, has led to the involvement of an expert technical team to assess the dam’s condition and repair the damaged gate.

Speaking to the media at Aiwan-e-Shahi guesthouse in Kalaburagi on August 13, Kharge confirmed that if any lapses are identified, appropriate measures will be implemented against the concerned authorities. Additionally, a survey is underway for the construction of a bridge parallel to the Tungabhadra dam.

With reservoirs in neighboring Maharashtra at full capacity, State Disaster Management Officials are preparing for potential flood situations in Kalaburagi district if excess water needs to be released.
