A pistol reported stolen from the residence of Janardhana Reddy, the founder of the Kalyan Karnataka Pragati Party and a prominent figure in the mining industry, has sparked an investigation. The incident unfolded at a residence in the Erna Gowda Colony of Bellary city, taking the community by surprise.
The case was filed at the Kaul Bazar Police Station, and the missing pistol belonged to Bala Mukunda Shukla, a native of Uttar Pradesh who had been serving as a security guard for Janardhana Reddy’s wife, Aruna Lakshmi, and their son, Kireeti. The theft occurred on September 28.
It appears that the security guard left the pistol in his room, locked the main door, but failed to secure the side door before going to sleep. Surveillance footage captured a suspicious individual entering the house and absconding with the pistol while Shukla was asleep. The footage is now in the hands of law enforcement, and the Kaul Bazar police are actively working to identify the suspect.
Bala Mukunda Shukla, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, had been working as a security guard for the past two years and had previously served in the same capacity a few years ago.
Both Janardhana Reddy’s wife, Aruna Lakshmi, and Janardhana Reddy himself are deeply involved in political activities. Aruna Lakshmi had previously contested in an election and continues to pursue political interests, while Janardhana Reddy manages his business interests in Bellary.
Their son, Kireeti, is engaged in the film industry and maintains a busy schedule. Given their active lifestyles, the presence of a security guard is a necessity for their security system.
The police are currently investigating the background and motives of the individual who stole the pistol, working diligently to unravel the full details of the case. Ongoing efforts aim to shed light on this incident.
