The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will construct three-star hotels at Hampi, Vijayapura, Belur and Badami for the benefit of tourists.
Kannada and culture minister CT Ravi on Thursday said a project report for three-star hotels has been prepared and tenders invited. “Once the tenders are finalised, we’ll start work.
The government is spending Rs 80 crore,” he said. As far as maintenance of these properties is concerned, the government will take a call once construction is over. “We may entrust the responsibility to KSTDC or private players,” he said.
The government will roll out a tourism policy next month that seeks to improve infrastructure facilities at all tourist destinations. “In the next three years, we want to take Karnataka to third place in the country in tourism. We’ve prepared a blueprint for the development of 19 world-famous destinations,” the minister added.
