In a shocking incident at Toranagal in Sandur taluk, CCTV footage has surfaced showing a woman throwing her two-month-old daughter into a canal. The woman, Priyanka (32), originally from Bihar and residing in Toranagal, was arrested after police verified the footage.
Initially, Priyanka told her husband and police that the baby had been abducted. However, the CCTV footage clearly showed her carrying the infant and throwing her into the canal.
According to police, Priyanka’s husband works as a labourer with Jindal, and the couple had migrated from Bihar for work. They have three daughters, including the deceased infant. During interrogation, Priyanka admitted to the crime, citing ill health and her inability to care for the child as reasons.
Police have launched a search operation to recover the baby’s body. A case has been registered at Toranagal Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
