In a village near Tekkalakote in Siruguppa, residents are forced to place bed sheets, slippers, and bags to reserve their spots in long queues for Aadhaar registration and corrections at the local Naadakachery center. The intense heat makes it impossible for people to stand for hours, leading to this makeshift arrangement to secure their place in line. This situation has arisen because the Aadhaar center at the Tekkalakote has been closed for the past year, forcing residents from Tekkalakote town, surrounding villages, Sirigeeri, and neighboring Andhra Pradesh to travel to the local center daily for Aadhaar-related services, making crowd management difficult.
The local jurisdiction covers 18 villages, and the center issues between 250 and 300 tokens every Monday. Villagers report arriving as early as 6:00 AM, resulting in significant crowding and pushing. Hanumanthappa, the Revenue Officer, stated that the token system was introduced to ensure smooth service delivery and prevent inconvenience for the large number of people seeking various services at the Aadhaar center.
