A large-scale fraud has come to light in Ballari, where more than 200 rented cars were pawned, and the accused fled after collecting money.
The fraudster reportedly rented vehicles for two to three months and later pledged them for cash. For nearly six months, cars were rented out through local contacts, with no direct dealings with the actual owners, and rental agreements were used as a cover.
The incident was exposed when a car owner, who had not received rent payments, tracked his vehicle through GPS and found it had been pawned. A case has been registered at the Bruce Pate Police Station in Ballari.
