154 acres of land acquired for Ballari jeans park at ₹40 lakh per acre

Work on the proposed jeans park at Sanjeevarayana Kote on the outskirts of Ballari has picked up pace, with tenders floated for its development. The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has completed the acquisition of 154 acres for the project, compensating farmers at a rate of ₹40 lakh per acre.

Plans have been made to accommodate over 500 units in the upcoming park, catering to the large number of jeans manufacturers already operating in Ballari and Mundargi industrial zones.

KIADB Assistant Engineer Govind Naik confirmed that land acquisition is complete and development work has been initiated following the issuance of the work order.

Meanwhile, several jeans dyeing units in Ballari are facing closure by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board due to untreated effluent discharge and the absence of treatment plants.
